When Jammy arrived at Marin Humane, one of the first things everyone noticed was his adorable smile and bubbly personality. The second thing they noticed was that poor Jammy was very, very chubby.
Jammy was surrendered to the shelter after his owner was no longer able to care for him. The tiny dog weighed 17.6 pounds when he should have weighed around 10, and for such a small dog, that’s a lot of extra weight. He could barely move around on his own but seemed to really enjoy being carried around by all his new friends. They also discovered that Jammy had 13 bladder stones that needed to be removed immediately, providing the pup with some much-needed relief.
Despite his health issues, 11-year-old Jammy is quite the charmer and has a whole lot of personality to share with the world.
“Jammy is a charming, funny little dude,” Julia Lamont, social media and marketing specialist at Marin Humane, told The Dodo. “He’s friendly and easy-going, and he’s been social with everyone he’s met. He also has some silly quirks; for example, he’s enjoyed playing with a cat wand toy! He’s gone through lots of handling in his time at our shelter, due to his health issues, and he’s been a superstar through all of it.”
Jammy spent some time in a foster home after his surgery and is now back at the shelter and searching for his forever home. He’s chipping away at his weight loss goals and is looking for a family who can help him get his body as happy and healthy as his soul is.
Jammy is an expert snuggler and also loves to go exploring on walks and loves to be in charge. He’s very vocal at mealtimes and will always make his opinions known. He’s lived with other small dogs and cats before and does super well with them. Overall, Jammy is a polite and opinionated gentleman who just wants to find a family to love him.
Jammy is now down to 16.2 pounds and is definitely moving around better. He’ll be able to do so much once he reaches his goal weight — and now he just needs someone to do it with.
